PHILADELPHIA — Add back spasms to the list of Aaron Judge injury concerns.
The right fielder was held out of Sunday’s lineup against the Phillies with the injury, Aaron Boone said at Citizens Bank Park.
The spasms began Saturday and Judge played through them, although he went 1-for-5 with three strikeouts in the 10-inning loss.
“He woke up [Saturday] pretty sore,” Boone said of Judge. “He was able to get through the game, but he struggled to get his real good swing off. He was still pretty sore [Sunday] morning.”
Judge has been the Yankees’ most consistent hitter this season, but he’s already dealt with soreness in his side and lower body injuries. He has so far avoided any IL stints and the Yankees have recently had him play center field on occasion as they deal with a lack depth at the position. Judge said he wasn’t concerned about the extra running in center potentially affecting his legs.
