Islanders survive Bruins’ rally attempt for Game 5 win

The Islanders defeated the Bruins, 5-4, on Monday to take a 3-2 series lead in the second round of the 2021 NHL playoffs.

Josh Bailey, Mat Barzal, Jordan Eberle, Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri scored for the Islanders, who scored three power play goals but nearly blew a three-goal lead in the third period.

They will have a chance to close out the series Wednesday when it returns to Long Island.

David Pastrnak scored twice for the Bruins, who also got goals from Brad Marchand and David Krejci.
