Marlins vs. Red Sox line, prediction: Under is the play

Posted on

The Miami Marlins have had a tough time scoring this season, but have a solid pitching staff with one of their headliners Pablo Lopez taking the hill on Monday in Boston against the Red Sox.

Lopez has given up two runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts while giving up two walks or fewer in all but one of those starts.

The Red Sox will look to Nick Pivetta to continue to limit contact as opponents are hitting .209 off of him and in 59 ²/₃ innings across 11 starts, has surrendered just four home runs with Boston going 5-1 in his starts at home and 9-2 overall.

The Red Sox as a team are giving up the second-fewest home runs per nine innings, including just 0.5 per nine innings at home while the Marlins rank fourth overall in this category and are surrendering 0.9 home runs per nine innings in road games.

With the Red Sox bullpen getting the most strikeouts per nine innings of any bullpen in the American League and the Marlins bullpen giving out the fewest walks per nine innings, it should be a low-scoring affair in Boston on Monday.

The play: Marlins-Red Sox total, Under 8.5.
