The Cubs are in sunny San Diego. Jake “From Chicago” Arrieta (5-6, 5.26 ERA) said he was under the weather when the Giants put six runs on the board in just two innings last Friday. (Note to self: remember to use that one in the future.) Jake wasn’t much better, however, two starts back. Cincinnati smacked six hits and sent Arrieta to the bench after 3 ²/₃ innings.
Former Cub and career Stitches antagonist Yu Darvish (6-1, ERA 2.25) has made a dozen starts with the Padres and they’ve won 11 of them. Darvish has allowed six runs over his last 10 innings, but has been bailed out by the clutch-hitting Fernando Tatis Jr. Yu know Darvish will do his best to make us regret picking the road-dog Cubs for 10 units.
Turned the double play Tuesday. David Peterson turned in one of his longer outings, 2 ²/₃ innings. Responsible for four runs in the Orioles’ 10-3 win. Pete Alonso’s two homers accounted for all three Met runs.
Then the Marlins knocked out the Rockies 6-2. Pablo Lopez going eight for the W. The Balboas now 4-23 on the road. Wins take us to 1,483 paulblairs.
